Rome’s public transport is operated by ATAC and includes metro, buses, trams, and regional trains.
Metro
Rome has three metro lines:
- Line A (Orange): Battistini–Anagnina (serves Vatican, Spanish Steps, Termini)
- Line B/B1 (Blue): Laurentina–Rebibbia/Jonio (serves Colosseum, EUR)
- Line C (Green): Monte Compatri–Pantano–San Giovanni (connects to Line A at San Giovanni)
Hours: 5:30–23:30 (Saturday until 1:30). Trains every 4–10 minutes.

How to Pay
Contactless tap-and-go (credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay) at metro gates. Paper tickets at tabacchi shops, newsstands, vending machines, and the MyCicero app.
Airport Transfer
- FCO (Fiumicino): Leonardo Express €14 (32 min to Termini, non-stop), FL1 regional train €8 (45 min, stops Trastevere/Ostiense)
- CIA (Ciampino): Bus €6 (40 min to Termini), bus 720 + metro ~€2
Taxis
Official white cabs only. Meter starts at €3 (day), €5 (night), €7 (holidays). Fixed fares to airport: €55 (FCO), €40 (CIA) inside Aurelian Walls. Apps: itTaxi, FreeNow.
